Hellooooo friend,
So after being accepted into the UNC School of Journalism, I did what anyone that knows me would expect me to do: I did a bunch of research and made an ambitious to-do list. What can I say, I'm the definition of predictable. One of the first "tips and tricks" my research yielded is creating a personal blog. Sure, it's silly, fun and informal, but it gives you practice writing. I also miss talking and catching with so many people, so this is an opportunity to inform y'all of some of the happenings in my life! So, here it is! Welcome to my blog!
What's been going on?
Of course, the usual: going to class, studying in the library, having random dance parties in my room, running, eating yummy Mexican food, loving on sweet friends, spending time with my wonderful suite- nicknamed "The Hood", and digging into the Word with my ever wonderful RUF co-leader and small group girls. Typical life events; I'll get into those a little later. Here are some highlights though:
I declared a major...FINALLY! I am officially a Public Relations major within the School of Journalism and Mass Communication here at UNC! For those of you who don't know, this has been a long time coming as I bounced around every idea under the sun about what on earth I wanted to do. I'm excited to finally have an answer to the question when people ask me what my major is. Let's be honest, my main goal has always been the same: motherhood. Except for now, I have an actual declarable major and plan for some income before my tykes arrive.
Welcome to the J-School, woohooo!
I applied and was accepted to be copy editor of a school magazine publication: Blue & White Magazine! I am super excited about this opportunity! For as much as I complained about it in high school, I have truly missed the yearbook world, editing, and helping to produce publications. So this is a little different working with a magazine, but I am very excited to start this adventure in the next couple of weeks!
"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works." -Hebrews 10:24. I am loving my campus ministry, RUF. I continue to be built up, encouraged and loved. I'm just so thankful for the opportunities and reminders it gives me. God is so good!
This past weekend, it snowed/iced in Chapel Hill! It was bitterly cold, and once the precipitation started, class got cancelled early! HOORAY! That rarely ever happens in Chapel Hill, so it is an extra party whenever it does. The girls I live with rushed back to our suite where we wore pajamas, ordered pizzas, and watched movies for the entirety of our evening. It was such great and relaxing fellowship time with such sweet girls. It was made even sweeter because one of my suitemates, Emily, is from Florida, so this was her third snow ever and her first official snow day!
Gluten-free pizza: PRAISE!
Yesterday was 70 something degrees and beautiful! I truly believe Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real thing, and I would even go so far as to self diagnose myself with it. But yesterday, definitely would the cure for it. I went for a run and had a homework picnic outside in the grass. It was so great!
How great is this view?
The most exciting news in life, druuuuuuuum roll:
MY SISTER'S GETTING MARRIED! My older sister, Elizabeth, and her boyfriend, Scott, got engaged about two weeks ago. In typical, nonchalant Elizabeth style she called me to tell me about the proposal and a few days later at lunch asked me to be a bridesmaid. Both occurrences caused me to freak out, jump, dance, sing, and shout from my balcony. Proof my sister and I are each others anti-thesis, there it is folks. Since it happened, my entire suite of girls has joined in my excitement about the wedding, asking daily about dresses, shoes, songs, food, and on and on. But really, they're thrilled. I'm thrilled. My family's thrilled. It's a happy time! For more on that, check out her precious wedding website here: http://croninplybon.ourwedding.com/.
So freakin' excited for her!
Okay, those are the main big points. Hopefully from here on out, there should be less information, and I can focus on
smaller details!
